CLT (Chashu/Lettuce/Tomato) Sandwich
Ingredients:
Makes 1 sandwich
- 2 Tbsp. KEWPIE Mayonnaise
- 1 tsp. Karashi paste*
- 2 slices of bread, toasted
- 1 c. shredded lettuce
- 1 Tbsp. chopped cilantro
- 2 slices of ripe tomato
- 3 to 4 pieces store-bought chashu
- 1 tsp. olive oil
Directions
1. Prepare the Mayonnaise Sauce:
- In a small bowl, combine KEWPIE Mayonnaise and Karashi.
Set aside.
- In a small bowl, combine KEWPIE Mayonnaise and Karashi.
2. Prepare the Chashu:
- In a frying pan, heat oil and sear chashu until lightly brown. Remove and set aside.
3. Prepare the Lettice mix:
- In a small bowl, combine lettuce and cilantro and set aside.
4. How to Assemble the Sandwich:
- Spread mayonnaise sauce on one side of each bread slice.
- On top of the bread (mayonnaise sauce side up), layer lettuce mix, tomato, seared chashu.
- Cover with the second side of bread, mayonnaise side down. Press gently to ensure every element melds together harmoniously.
*Karashi paste can be found in the Asian aisle at supermarkets or at Asian specialty stores.
